SMALL BUDGETS, BIG REWARDS

Objective: Win big on Dragons Den

Meet Brighter Bikes, the creation of maverick inventor and successful entrepreneur Steve Ransom. Steve along with brother and sister team had a history in road safety with their original company Traffic Angel. Steve realised something was missing – cars had them, lorries had them but cyclist didn’t.

Indicators

Steve had a simple proposal - he wanted to take his indicator onto Dragons Den and win big but Steve had nothing. He had a great product but online, his company didn’t exist.

The Brief: Create an e-commerce website, product stills and a demonstration video

Action: The process

Concepts created it was now time to co-ordinate and produce a stills and video campaign for an online budget which could be shot simultaneously over one long night.

Using our trusty and talent team, “a micro crew” of 6 people with a track record of working together on projects such as The Wine Show, the video unique combined with the talented David McHugh from Brighton Pictures who shot stills within the same budget. As they say, there’s nothing like the threat of a sunrise to make you stick to a schedule, especially if there is no day 2.

It’s a great example of what can be achieved on a micro budget with careful planning and local knowledge. None of the cast were professionals in fact, if you look carefully you’ll see most of the crew are in the film! That’s, multi-tasking.

Result: The Dragons Said Yes.

In a digital world where sales equal success it was very exciting to see your online production create a success on national TV. It’s also a great example of how a smaller online budget can be used to great effect.
